Ninemile Creek Restoration Project

FarWide Conservation Trust will be restoring over one mile of stream habitat along Ninemile Creek in western Nebraska.  The project includes the complete restoration of a channelized section of the creek, restoring it to a meandering channel with important riparian vegetation and in-stream habitat.  The project will benefit both brown and rainbow trout, waterfowl and many other species of fish and wildlife. The landowners of the site have agreed to allow a certain amount of public use on the property, including using the site to teach kids how to fly fish for trout. The Nebraska Environmental Trust has awarded FarWide with a $214,470 grant to help fund this project.  Other partners include the landowners, Platte River Basin Environments, Trout Unlimited, Ducks Unlimited, and the Oregon Trail Community Foundation.  The project construction phase is scheduled to commence in the summer of 2025.
