Oklahoma Wetlands and Grasslands to be Conserved
FarWide Conservation Trust has been awarded a $250,000 grant from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service through the North American Wetlands Conservation Act for a series of important habitat projects in Oklahoma. Over 4,400 acres of wetlands and grasslands will be enhanced through this project, primarily through the removal of invasive species like salt cedar. The project will restore important habitat for waterfowl, shorebirds, grassland birds, upland game species and many others. The project will mostly take place along the major rivers in central and western Oklahoma. Other partners in this effort include the Oklahoma Conservation Commission, Pheasants Forever, the International Crane Foundation and The Nature Conservancy.
